View on suite of reception-rooms (Golden rooms).

Some of the original interiors of ceremonial reception-rooms have preserved the rare decoration upon the Kazakov project of the times before the Grand Fire. In the so called “golden rooms” the architect used all artistic devices: various stucco moulding, thin gilt carving, rich ceiling painting.

Description
Demidov town mansion. Architect M. Kazakov. 1779-1791. Moscow. Main facade of the town mansion on 4, Gorokhovsky lane.
For the most rich Moscow noblemen and merchants Kazakov has elaborated a type of “home-palace” – a large three storey building with wings.
One of the best examples of such a rich mansion is Demidov house (1780-е гг.) that stately stands along the lane line. The house keeps the solemn representativity of a strict façade decorated with a big portico and a fine stucco moulding. Some of the original interiors of ceremonial reception-rooms have preserved the rare decoration upon the Kazakov project of the times before the Grand Fire. In the so called “golden rooms” the architect used all artistic devices.
